Next Screening Day: Thursday, May 22
In Minnesota, all children must be screened before entering Kindergarten in a public school. All children have the right to receive a free Early Childhood Screening with age 3 being the recommended age. Children can be also screened at age 4 and 5.
Early Childhood Screening is a free snapshot of how your child is growing, developing, and learning. Early Childhood Screening can connect families with resources in the community. Interpreter services are provided at no cost to families if needed.
Why is this free appointment important?
Our brains grow the fastest during the early years. The sooner we see you, the more we can offer you. Every child is different-we can help your child build on their strengths and get ready for school learning. You’ll receive support and resources during your screening appointment.
Should I wait until my child is 5 to be screened so she/he will do better?
No! Screenings take age into account so there is no advantage to waiting. In fact, to ensure school success, we encourage screening to be done when they are 3.
