Competition Cheer Team
Farmington Competition Cheer Team is a Farmington Community Education program and represents Farmington High School at the Junior Varsity and Varsity levels.
Teams combine stunting, gymnastics, cheer and dance into a 2.5-minute routine. All teams compete at the local level. Some teams compete at the regional, state and national levels. Seasons begin April-August and run through January/February, dependent on team.

Varsity
Grades 8-12
The Varsity level of competitive cheer teams focuses on establishing excellent motion, jump, stunt and dance technique as well as learning how to work together as a team. The team will perform advanced skills appropriate to their ability levels.
The team will compete at local and regional competitions on Saturdays or Sundays from late October through mid-February and at the National High School Cheerleading Championship in Orlando, Florida (if the team qualifies).This team requires travel.
Junior Varsity
Grades 7-12
The Junior Varsity level of competitive cheer teams focuses on establishing excellent motion, jump, stunt and dance technique as well as learning how to work together as a team. The team will perform advanced skills appropriate to their ability levels.
The team will compete at local and regional competitions on Saturdays or Sundays from late October through mid-February and at the National High School Cheerleading Championship in Orlando, Florida (if the team qualifies).This team travels.
Middle School
Grades 6-9
The Middle School level of competitive cheer teams focuses on establishing good motion, jump, stunt and dance technique as well as learning how to work together as a team. The team will perform skills appropriate to their ability levels. The team will compete at local competitions as well as a couple larger events. If enrollment exceeds 32 athletes, the athletes will be divided into two teams.
Middle School White
Grades 6 - 9 Fall 2024
THIS TEAM IS BY INVITE ONLY
The Middle School White level of competitive cheer teams focuses on establishing good motion, jump, stunt and dance technique as well as learning how to work together as a team. The team will perform skills appropriate to their ability levels. The team will compete at local competitions from mid-October through end of January and UCA Nationals in Orlando, FL. This team requires travel. Competition schedules will be released in mid-summer.
Elementary White
Grades 2-5
THIS TEAM IS BY INVITATION ONLY
The Elementary White level of competitive cheer focuses on establishing good motion, jump, stunt and dance technique as well as learning how to work together as a team. The team will perform skills appropriate to their ability levels. This is a intermediate-advanced level team that will focus on developing a love for cheer, learning new skills, improving current skills, and will train in technique for jumps, motions, stunting, and dance. Skills performed will be more intermediate-advanced level (extended stunts and one legged skills). They will compete in the Elementary or Elementary Advanced division. White team competes locally (October through January) and at UCA Nationals in Orlando, FL. This team requires travel. Competition schedules will be released in mid-summer.
Elementary Orange
Grades 4-5
The Elementary levels of competitive cheer focuses on establishing good motion, jump, stunt and dance technique as well as learning how to work together as a team. The team will perform skills appropriate to their ability levels. Athletes will be divided into two teams at the beginning of the season. Both teams are open enrollment and no experience is required. Teams will practice once a week in July through August and then twice a week September through January.
Th Orange Team is an advanced level team that will focus on developing a love for cheer, learning new skills, improving current skills, and will train in technique for jumps, motions, stunting, and dance. Skills performed will be more advanced in level (extended stunts, one legged stunts, etc.). This team has a higher commitment level, attends additional competitions and requires higher skill, more focus and drive from the athletes. This team will compete in the elementary division. The Orange team competes locally (October through early February). There is an additional required cost associated with the Orange Team and parent approval is required to be considered for this team.
Elementary Black
Grades 2-3
The Elementary levels of competitive cheer focuses on establishing good motion, jump, stunt and dance technique as well as learning how to work together as a team. The team will perform skills appropriate to their ability levels. Athletes will be divided into two teams at the beginning of the season. Both teams are open enrollment and no experience is required. Teams will practice once a week in July through August and then twice a week September through January.
Elementary Black is a novice-intermediate level team that will focus on developing a love for cheer, learning new skills, improving current skills, and will train in technique for jumps, motions, stunting, and dance. Skills performed will be more novice-intermediate level (preps level stunts and progressing to possible extended stunts as the season progresses). They will compete in the elementary novice division with the possibility to advance to the elementary division at the end of the season. Black team competes locally (October through January).
Elementary Game Day
Grades 2-5
The Elementary Game Day team is an “add on” team for those participating in either the Elementary Black, Elementary Orange or Elementary White teams. This team focuses on establishing good motion, jump, and crowd leading skills through a band dance, situational sideline, cheer and school song. The team competes locally mid-November through January. Competition schedule will be released mid-summer.
Pee Wee
Kindergarteners - 1st Grade
The Pee Wee level of competitive cheer focuses on introducing cheer skills, such as good motion, jump, stunt and dance technique as well as learning how to work together as a team. The teams will perform skills appropriate to their ability levels. Teams will practice once a week in August through January. Exhibition are local (October through January).
The Pee Wee team typically has a slightly faster paced routine that is added onto throughout the season. Stunting levels are two and one footed thigh stands, moving into preps, teddy bears, etc. Tumbling skills are typically forward rolls, cartwheels and round-offs.
Mini
3-4 year olds
The Mini level of competitive cheer focuses on introducing cheer skills, such as good motion, jump, stunt and dance technique as well as learning how to work together as a team. The teams will perform skills appropriate to their ability levels. Teams will practice once a week in August through January. Exhibition are local (October through January).
The Mini team typically has a slower paced routine that is added onto throughout the season. Stunting levels are basic knee/thigh stands. Tumbling skills are typically forward rolls and cartwheels.
Adaptive
Boys and Girls - Grades 6-12
The Tiger Adaptive Cheer team pairs Farmington cheerleaders, Cheer Peers and students with disabilities to create an opportunity to cheer together at several FHS home football and basketball games as well as at local cheer competitions. Football schedule is listed in the Team Information packet. Competition schedules will be released in mid-summer. Basketball games will be scheduled in late fall/early winter.
