2024-2025 Tiger Preschool Tiger Preschool

Beginning in the 2024-2025 school year, Farmington Community Education will be offering Tiger Preschool with before and after care through our Kid Connection program. Farmington Community Education will no longer be offering the Stepping Stones and Wee Tigers preschool programs.

Tiger Preschool will be available for half days or full days with the choice of 2, 3, or 5 days per week for students ages 3-5 years old. Locations are to be determined. More information will be available in January 2024.

Curriculum

Tiger Preschool will use the Minnesota Early Childhood Indicators of Progress and Creative Curriculum as a foundation to create a high-quality learning environment. Creative Curriculum improves Kindergarten readiness, supports the whole child, is research-based and field proven, and is aligned with early learning standards. In addition, children will be authentically accessed through observation.

What will my child learn?

Social and Emotional – regulate emotions and behaviors including managing feelings, following time limits and expectations, and taking care of one’s own needs. Establishing and sustaining positive relationships with peers and adults including responding to emotional cues and making friends. Participates cooperatively and constructively in group situations, including balancing needs and rights of self and others and solving social problems.

Literacy – literacy as a source of enjoyment, vocabulary and language, phonological awareness, knowledge of print, letters and words, comprehension, and books and other texts.

Mathematics – number and operations, geometry and spatial sense, measurement, patterns (algebra), and data analysis.

Science – the physical properties of objects and materials, characteristics of living things, and Earth’s environment.

Social Studies – people and how they live, change related to people and places, and simple geography.

The Arts – visual arts, music, dance and movement, and drama.

Technology – tools and their basic operations and uses.

Process Skills – observing and exploring, problem solving, connecting, organizing, communicating, and representing information.

Integrating Learning Through Studies – exploring science and social studies by applying skills in order to answer questions that interest them. 

Additional Information

  • Tuition will be due monthly, September – May, with one registration fee per school year.
  • Children attending full day Tiger Preschool will receive a free school lunch.
  • Children attending Tiger Preschool must be able to independently take care of their toileting needs.

Wee Tigers Preschool offers several choices for children ages 3-5, including half days, full days (5.5 hours), and evenings. For specific times and locations check our website for options. Wee Tigers uses the Minnesota Early Childhood Indicators of Progress and Creative Curriculum as a foundation to create high quality learning environments.

Wee Tigers provides a balance of activities that will enrich the child's learning experiences. Wee Tigers teachers have a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education and are licensed by the State of Minnesota. Children will have opportunities, to gain school readiness skills through structured, but flexible programming. Children must be fully potty trained and able to take care of their own toileting needs.

Full day, Full week, School Year & Summer Sessions

Ages 3-5

Stepping Stones Preschool offers full day programming

for children ages 3-5. Choose from the school year (September to early June) and summer (mid-June to August) options. Our highly qualified instructors follow the Houghton-Mifflin preschool curriculum which is designed to help each child accomplish learning and developmental benchmarks including the following:

  • Phonemic Awareness
  • Early Math Concepts

  • Dramatic Play

Stepping Stones is designed to provide a foundation for lifelong learning. Children participate in a variety of activities that are designed to prepare them for Kindergarten. Children must be fully potty trained and able to take care of their own toileting needs. Locations: Tiger Legacy and Learning Center, Meadowview, and Riverview
